No time for icing? Brighten up your favourite cake (or this flourless chocolate torte) with a quick and simple technique that looks impressive but takes no time at all.
Turn your cake into a photo-worthy centrepiece using icing sugar and stencils.
- Cake stencils
- Icing sugar
- Kitchen tongs
- Small sifter
- Once your cake is cool, arrange your chosen stencil design on the top of the cake. You can use store-bought stencils or ornaments.
- Use a small sifter to gently dust the cake top with icing sugar.
- Carefully remove stencils with kitchen tongs or tweezers, using an upward motion so as not to disturb the stencil outline.
Tip: If you don’t have cake-decorating stencils or snowflake ornaments, try cutting your own shapes out of paper.
